The Nightmare Before Christmas is a 1993 American holiday-themed stop-motion animated musical dark fantasy film produced by Touchstone Pictures. It was directed by Henry Selick (in his feature directorial debut) from a story written by Tim Burton and a screenplay written by Caroline Thompson.

Jack Skellington, the king of Halloween Town, discovers Christmas Town, but his attempts to bring Christmas to his home cause confusion.

Music

The film's soundtrack album was released in 1993 by Walt Disney Records. For the film's 2006 re-release, a special edition of the soundtrack was released, featuring a bonus disc which contained covers of five of the film's songs by Fall Out Boy, Panic! at the Disco, Marilyn Manson, Fiona Apple, and She Wants Revenge. Four original demo tracks by Elfman were also included.

Trivia

• Although the film does not have official Norwegian or Swedish dubs, the song "What's This?" on its own was dubbed into these languages and featured in a sing-along included with a special VHS edition of The Hunchback of Notre Dame.
  • This was also the case with Dutch, although the film would later receive a Dutch dub.
• While the film has not been dubbed into Finnish in any capacity, a live Finnish-language Disney on Ice production based on the film was acted out in an unknown year.
